How often should you wash your car in New Jersey?

Road salt, pollen and summer bugs all attack your paint. A simple schedule for every season in South Jersey and Philly.

From our detailers · 4 min read

For most drivers we recommend a maintenance wash every two weeks and a light detail once every season. Here is why the seasons matter in our area.

Winter: road salt

Salt and brine are the biggest threat to your car in New Jersey. They cling to the underbody, wheel wells and lower panels and speed up rust. Wash more often in winter, and add an Undercarriage Cleaning after storms.

Spring: pollen and the reset

Pollen is slightly acidic and can etch paint if it sits. Spring is the ideal time for a Mini Haus Detail to remove winter contamination and seal the paint for the months ahead.

Summer: bugs, sap and sun

Bug splatter and bird droppings are acidic and bake into the paint in the heat. Remove them quickly, and keep a layer of protection on the paint to block UV fading.

Fall: prepare for winter

Before the first freeze, a detail with fresh sealant gives salt and grime a harder time sticking to your paint all winter.
